A Study of the Effect of Cervus elaphus Aqua - acupuncture on the Adrenal Cortical Insufficiency in Rats

Abstract
|
|
|
In order to study the effect of acqua-acupuncture, I induced adrenocortical insufficiency by administering dexamethasone to rats. Then administered regularity for 3 consecutive days 1%/10%/50% of each Cervus elaphus solution to rats´ corresponding loci of the Sin-su (B_(23)) /Gwanweon (CV₄) and Black locus (non-acupuncture locus at the root of rats´ tail) to make a comparative study between contents in serum cortisol, sodium, potassium and change of blood eosinophils and their control groups.
Obtained results are as followes:
1. The contents of serum cortisol were increased singificantly comparing with those of control group in case of all Sin-su/Gwan-weon groups; especially in case of 10%/50% solution of Sin-su group and 1%/10% solution of Govan-weon group showed significant increase respectively. However, Black locus group showed not so significant increase as much as Sin-su and Gwan-weon group.
2. The contents of sodium was remarkably increased comparing with those of control group in case of 1% solution in Sin-su group; 1%/50% solution in Gwan-weon group while no significance was seen in Black locus group.
3. The contents of potassium was remarkably decreased comparing with those of control group in case of all Sin-su/Gwan-weon group; especially in case of 10%/50% solution in Sin-su group; 50% solution in Gwan-weon group showed certain tendency of remarkable decrease. However those of Black locus group did not show that much significant decrease.
4. The contents of blood eosinophils were quite significantly decreased comparing with those of control gorup in case of all Sin-su/Gwan-weon groups; especially in case of all solution in Sin-su groups and 1%/50% solution in Gwan-weon group showed significant decrease.
However those of Black locus group showed remarkable decrease only in 50% solution. Considering above mentioned observation results, I feel more study of aqua-acupuncture with distilled Cervus elaphus extract about the loci os Sin-Su(B_(23)) and Gwan-weon(CV₄) is required to find a solution of remedy and to enhance resisting ability against disease which is assumed to be related to adrenal cortical insufficiency in orinetal medicine.
